국문초록
  본 연구는 평생교육조직의 지식경영에 대한 현상을 탐색하고 지식경영 실천에 의한 군집화와 그 특성을 분석하는데 목적이 있었다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위한 연구방법은 문헌연구, 비구조화된 면담, 조사연구이었다. 본 연구는 온라인 설문조사와 우편조사를 통해 총 204개가 수집되었으며, 분석방법은 요인분석, 군집분석을 사용하였다. 
  연구결과는 첫째, 평생교육조직의 지식경영에 대해 타당도가 검증된 조사도구가 확인되었고, 둘째, 현재 평생교육조직의 지식경영에 대한 가치인식은 비교적 높은 경향을 보이는 반면, 실천수준은 보통으로 나타났다. 셋째, 평생교육조직은 지식경영의 실천경향에 따라 동면단계, 진입단계, 도약단계, 혁신단계 집단으로 군집화 되었고 유형별로 평생교육조직의 특성이 확인되었다. 
  이러한 결과는 기존 경영학적 관점에서 강조되었던 과정중심의 지식경영 모형의 한계를 벗어나 전개과정에 영향을 미치는 가치, 시스템, 네트워크, 공동체 요소가 통합된 새로운 평생교육조직의 지식경영 모형을 실증적으로 밝혔다는 점에서 의의가 있었다.

ABSTRACT
  The purposes of this study were to explore the phenomenon of knowledge management (KM) in lifelong education organizations and to cluster lifelong education organizations according to their KM practices. This study was conducted through a literature review and non-structured interviews. The data were collected through on-line surveys and mailed surveys, thoroughly covering 204 lifelong education organizations. The collected data were analyzed using statistical techniques such as factor analysis and cluster analysis. 
  The findings were summarized as follows. First, a validated instrument for measuring KM practices of lifelong education organizations was developed. Second, the perception of the value of KM was shown to be relatively high, but the level of practice was only average. Third, the lifelong education organizations were clustered into four stages according to the level of KM practice: the hibernation stage, the entry stage, the takeoff stage and the innovation stage. The specific characteristics of each type were examined.
  The implications of the study were that a new KM model is needed to integrate the elements of value, system, network and community beyond the existing models emphasized by business management science.
