국문초록
   이 연구는 학술지 「한국교육」에 수록된 논문을 대상으로 전반적인 연구동향을 살펴봄으로써 현재까지의 연구 성과를 점검하고 앞으로의 발전과제를 탐색하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 선행연구 고찰을 바탕으로 연구목적, 연구분야, 연구방법, 연구지향성, 연구출처 등 다섯 가지 분석 준거를 마련하고, 이와 함께 10년을 단위로 하는 시대별, 등재지 운영 시점별, 10권을 단위로 하는 권호별로 구분하여 연구동향을 분석하였다. 분석 대상은 1974년 창간호부터 최근 2012년까지 게재된 연구 가운데 시론, 관점과 주장, 서평 등을 제외한 순수 학술논문 853편이다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 실태분석 및 개선방안에 관한 학술연구 비율이 지속적으로 증가하여 2000년대 이후 계속해서 50%를 상회함으로써 교육 현실에 대한 처방과 실제가 강조되고 있다. 둘째, 「한국교육」의 게재 학술논문은 교육학 전 분야를 포괄하고 있으나 그 가운데 가장 활발하게 연구되고 있는 분야는 교육행정 영역이다. 셋째, 연구자들이 가장 많이 활용하고 있는 연구방법은 문헌연구이며, 최근 3년간에는 고급추리통계를 활용한 연구가 급증하고 있다. 넷째, 학술지에 게재된 논문 가운데 교육 실제를 대상으로 한 연구라 할지라도 정책적 제언을 포함하지 않거나 정책연구로 분류할 수 없는 경우가 많다. 본 연구는 연구 결과를 바탕으로 학술지의 정체성과 성격을 보다 강화하기 위한 발전과제를 제시하였다.

ABSTRACT
  This study reviews articles published in The Journal of Korean Education (JKE) over a period of 39 years, from 1974 to 2012. For the analysis, five analytical criteria were established based on the literature review: research goal, research theme, methodological characteristics, research orientation, and sources. 853 academic articles were analyzed and classified by decade, by period indexed in the Korean Citation Index (KCI), and by volume (in sets of 10 volumes). Results indicate that, first, the proportion of papers analyzing the current state of the field and papers proposing improvements in the field has increased steadily. Second, while the JKE has covered the domain of education studies comprehensively, studies on educational administration have been dominant. Third, literature reviews have been adopted as the most popular research method, and the number of papers that have applied advanced statistical inference methods has dramatically increased in the last three years. Lastly, there have been numerous papers that have dealt with education issues but have not offered sufficient policy implications or cannot be properly identified as education policy studies.
