초록

  본 연구는 기혼 여성의 사이버대학 상담전공 학과 입학에서 졸업까지의 경험을 이해하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 연구참여자 10명을 대상으로 심층면접을 하고, 합의적 질적 분석 방법으로 분석하였다. 입학 전에 연구참여자들은 고등교육의 기회를 갖지 못했거나, 결혼과 양육때문에 경력이 단절되는 경험을 하였다. 이를 극복하기 위한 대안으로 사이버대학에 진학하게 되었다. 타인을 돕고자 하는 마음과, 자신의 문제를 해결하고자 하는 마음, 그리고 향후 전문직으로의 비전에 동기화되어 상담을 전공하게 되었다. 재학 중 이들은 학업 수행의 어려움과 사이버 매체 활용 학습에 대한 불확실성과 사이버대학의 학력 인정에 대한 불안을 경험하였지만, 사이버대학 재학 동료와 졸업한 선배들과의 교류로 어려움과 불안에 대처하였다. 재학 중 실제 상담경험 기회를 접하게 되고, 상담전문가 협회와 자격증에 대한 정보를 접하면서 상담전문가로서의 진로 포부를 가지게 되었다. 졸업 후에 이들은 전일제 상담원으로 취업을 하거나, 대학원 석사 과정에 재학하며 파트타임 상담원으로 일하고 있다. 연구참여자들은 자신의 궁극적인 진로 목표를 유능한 상담자가 되는 것이라고 보고하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 여성의 고등교육 경험과 사이버대학의 상담자 양성 과정으로서의 의미를 중심으로 논의되었다.

ABSTRACT

 This study explored married women's experiences majoring in counseling psychology at cyber universities. Ten married women were interviewed, and the interview data were analyzed by the consensual qualitative research method. Participants experienced barriers to continuing advanced education and embarking on their careers before entering cyber universities. Their motivations to major in counseling psychology were to help others, to solve their personal issues, and to seek future career opportunities. While taking counseling courses, they started to counsel others as volunteers and came to be aware of professional organizations and certificate systems. They then developed career aspirations as professional counselors. They received support from their husbands, children, and cyber university colleagues to help them overcome difficulties and anxieties in continuing their education. After graduation, some were hired as full-time counselors and others entered graduate programs. Their ultimate career goal is to be a competent counselor. The results were discussed from the perspectives of women's higher education experiences and the roles of cyber universities as counselor education programs.
